Rec Community Guidelines
Rec is building the biggest community of recreational sports players in the world. Help us keep the community playing, happy, and welcoming to all.Court and Play Guidelines
Respect above all: It’s the golden rule for a reason! Everyone on the court is an equal and should be treated with respect. No harassment, discrimination, bullying, or other aggressive behavior will be tolerated.
Everyone is welcome: It’s intimidating to be a beginner at a new sport, we were all there once. If you see someone that needs a team to play on, welcome them in! If you see someone struggling with part of their game, share your tips! Create a welcoming environment for those of all skill levels and backgrounds.
Compete with sportsmanship: We love healthy competition. Playing to win is what’s so addictive about sports. We encourage you to play hard, just keep it respectful. Display good sportsmanship.
Leave no trace: We’re nature-lovers as well as athletes, and we think the same rules that apply to campsites should apply to athletic facilities. Pick up your trash, make sure facility doors are closed, and keep equipment tidy. Make sure the next player can have as good an experience as you did.
Give everyone a turn: We started Rec to make sports easier and more affordable to play regularly. Help us by rotating when courts are full, taking reasonable warm up times, and respecting the reservation system.
Keep everything above board: Illegal activity will not be tolerated on Rec — online, or on Rec-powered courts. This may result in being banned or restricted from the Rec platform, and/or being reported to the authorities
Online Community Guidelines
Use your real name and a real photo of yourself - Rec is about connecting people and instructors to get get them playing IRL. We know that people are much more comfortable showing up to play when they know – in advance – who they’ll be playing with.
We encourage everyone to upload a photo of themself and use their real name on their Rec profile — we only share your first name, last initial, and avatar photo with others.
